Protecting Frankincense Trees for Future Generations
SOM GUM COOPERATIVE’s Pilot Tree planting Programme
SOM GUM COOPERATIVE is mindful of the reports about the pressure being placed on trees because of the increased popularity of Frankincense and Myrrh Resins, leading to unsustainable harvesting techniques. We wish to protect the trees all across Somalia so future generations can benefit from them.
As a result, SOM GUM COOPERATIVE has implemented a tree-planting program. Our goal is to implement sustainable agricultural approaches and monitor the quality implications of commercially growing Frankincense and Myrrh-producing trees.
